As part of The
Works Art and Design in Public Places; Greg Ball,
Shoko Cesar, Jayn Macintosh, and Orsolya Jacob were invited
to design eight sculptural poles at the Commonwealth Stadium for the
2001 8th IAAF Worlds Championships in Athletics in Edmonton Alberta.
This project was led by Robert Lederer, Cezary
Gajewski, and Michael Syms.
Collaboration was successful in creating a series of animated sculptural
poles, which thread together the long corridor between the Stadium
and the LRT station. This project was seen by the thousands of people
who attended the Worlds in Edmonton, and will continue to be a central
point to the millions of others who will visit Commonwealth in the
future.
