Always a prolific individual, Darryl
Barton knew that he wanted to be able create interesting things
that people could use and enjoy for their everyday lives. A year after
high school, he was inspired by his dad to seek out the Industrial
Design program at the University of Alberta. He worked 3 years of
college in his home city of Grande Prairie taking art and history
courses to transfer past the first year requirements of the ID program
at the U of A. Then after 3.5 years of hard work at the university,
He graduated with a Bachelor of Design in Industrial Design. During
his education he discovered that he has a passion for designing functional
furniture which incorporates an intriguing element or versatile use
not commonly found in everyday furniture designs. Since graduating,
Darryl is still living in Edmonton and looking for the right design
job to enhance and advance his design skills. He is interested in
designing towards an environmentally friendly future, reusing found
objects or minimizing processes and materials that are damaging to
the environment. |
